Van Vigyan Kendra ICFRE Research Institutes and Centres have developed many technologies. Some of these have been already adopted by user groups including forest departments and farmers. However, the level of adoption is not commensurate with the extent of requirement of the particular technology. This brings out the fact that there is still need of dissemination of this knowledge from forest departments and different Research Institutes / Centres to the user groups. Keeping this in view, we intend to have Van Vigyan Kendras (VVKs) to assist / help the user groups to have access to technical know-how of appropriate technologies based on our findings. VanVigyan Kendra will be equipped with appropriate literature of knowledge, skills and technologies to be extended to different user groups including farmers. During March 2008 Institute of Wood Science & Technology (IWST), Bangalore has released money to Andhra Pradesh Forest Department for establishment of the VVK in Hyderabad, the components involved are construction of building, preparation of nursery beds and maintenance of nursery and IWST has sent portable distillation unit. Work is in progress in repairing of the old building where VVK is proposed to establish and training programmes are being conducted for the trainers by the scientists of IWST and FRC.
